"Great White" Survey Completed with C & C's AUV
April 19, 2004 - C & C Technologies recently completed a hazard survey for Shell's Gulf of Mexico Great White prospect. The survey was completed with C & C's deepwater C-Surveyor I Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), which is capable of collecting high-resolution multi-beam bathymetry, side scan sonar and sub-bottom profiler data in water depths up to 3000 meters. With the completion of this survey, C & C has accumulated over three years of experience on over 58 different global AUV projects for 28 unique clients. C & C has proven to be the worlds most technically advanced AUV service provider with over 30,000 kilometers of deepwater experience. It is truly amazing how much we have improved our AUV capabilities, says Jay Northcutt, AUV and Geophysical Operations Manager. Due to a significant decrease in utilization for 2002 and 2003, it was financially difficult to keep the program afloat. In 2004, it seems that more operators are accepting the technology, which in turn has provided us with 71 days of AUV utilization averaging a 93% uptime. This type of success rate was unimaginable during the programs infancy stage. C & C Technologies, the worldwide leader in AUV operations, also provides a variety of survey services including high accuracy Globally-corrected GPS services, marine construction surveys, high-resolution geophysical surveys, geotechnical surveys including full laboratory testing, as well as land surveys.
