Rig Positioning

C & C Technologies, Inc. Marine Construction Department offers offshore Rig Positioning Services also known as Rig Moves. A rig move is when a mobile offshore drilling unit (MODU) moves from one well location to the next. There are four different types of MODUs: drilling ships, semi-submersible, submersible and jack-ups.

Our job as the surveyor, is to provide positioning and navigation for the MODU, when moving from one location to the next. The surveying equipment involved in moving an MODU includes DGPS receivers, gyrocompass and computers with positioning and navigation software.
